Announced to the press on 23 May 2019, the Leica M Monochrom ‘Drifter’ by Kravitz Design became the second special edition Leica camera created in collaboration with Lenny Kravitz after the rock star worked with the company on the design of the 2015 special edition of the M-P (Typ 240).

The ‘Drifter’ special edition includes a Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) camera with a matching carrying strap and two Leica lenses in the forms of a Summicron-M 28 mm f/2 ASPH. and an APOSummicron-M 75 mm f/2 ASPH. Buyers are also treated to ‘The Drifter Traveler’ brown leather-look bag along with two lens cases and two leather-look pouches in vintage style for the camera and accessories. The camera itself is limited to 125 sets globally, with a price tag of UK£20,500 in the Leica Store.

Lenny Kravitz himself is an accomplished photographer and designer as well as a musician. He has a well established design studio called Kravitz Design, and he published a book of his black-and-white photographs named ‘Flash’ in 2015. The ‘Drifter’ camera complements his exhibition of the same name.
