A Kind of Magic: Freddie Mercury’s 70th

A Kind of Magic – exhibition of iconic photographs documenting moments in the life of Freddie Mercury shot by close friend Richard Young

Exhibition showing at the Richard Young Gallery, London, until November 5 2016.

The footage above contains scenes from the making of the last video in which Freddie Mercury appeared before his death at his home in London in 1991. The video has been viewed more than 17 million times to date on YouTube. Mercury would have turned 70 years old this year. Photographer Richard Young had been photographing the Queen vocalist since 1978 after becoming part of his inner circle. Behind-the-scene moments in the star’s life make up the exhibition along with images of Freddie in concert. Of the former, they include photographs from Richard Young’s archive which have otherwise never been shown.
