The 32nd Annual Infinity Awards celebrates South African photographer Zanele Muholi
Zanele Muholi has documented hate crimes against members of the LGBTI community in South Africa and her personal involvement in this tragic story. In her project called Faces and Phases, a remarkable series of portraits and self portraits portray lesbian and trans men and women in their ordinary lives as well as herself as a member of this community.
A short film on each honoree was commissioned on behalf of the International Center for Photography as part of the prestigious Infinity Awards for the recognition and celebration of outstanding achievements in visual arts and photography. The 2016 Infinity Awards took place in New York City on April 11, 2016, at which the lifetime achievement award went to renowned British photographer David Bailey, who produced some of the most famous photographic portraits of the last half-century.
